Prince bans dentist from covering Purple Rain

An NHS dentist world Health Organization is to release an album of operatic pop covers has received a kick in the teeth with the news that Prince has banned him from cathartic a spread over of Purple Rain.

It was Andrew Bain's interpretation of the 1984 hit that secured him a phonograph record contract with SonyBMG, simply it has clearly not impressed the song's creator and so will non be coming into court on his debut record album, Andrew Bain Presents Modern Classics.

However, the former dental practitioner has opted to smile and bear the decision by Prince, and has refused to bite back (you're on a dental pun warning here - Ed). "I have the utmost regard for Prince; without Purple Rain I wouldn't be where I am today," he aforementioned. "I struggled until I took a chance, interracial my operatic style with pop in Purple Rain, and completed my dreams."

Meanwhile Richard Hinkley, senior administrator at SonyBMG, was all smiles (last chance - Ed) at the attention Bain has been receiving. "Andrew has clearly smitten a chord with citizenry," he said. "We're rattling excited by the reactions he's been getting from both the media and the public alike. We had high expectations, only the level of interest in his music has far exceeded them."

The album is to be released next month, featuring the dentist's operatic treatment of songs by Dolly Parton, Snow Patrol, David Essex, Aerosmith and ABBA. Barring any teething troubles, that is (right, get out - Ed).

Johnny Rotten accused of assault

Johnny Rotten's teeth may no longer be rotten, but the same cannot be said for his attitude. The Sex Pistol is being sued by an LA television producer for sexual harassment and assault.

Rotten, who these days prefers to be called boring old John Lydon, was ridiculed this month for his $22,000 dental makeover in Los Angeles. This is perhaps unsurprising as being a punk-rock legend hardly goes hand in hand with advanced teeth-whitening technology. However, any criticisms of his approach to dental hygiene have now been superseded by the allegations of Roxane Davis, assistant producer on Bodog Battle of the Bands, on which Rotten was a judge. According to TMZ, the Los Angeles County Superior Court lawsuit describes a 2007 incident where Rotten "beat the crap out of [Davis] after calling her every horrible name in the book".

Returning to the Ritz Carlton from a television broadcast, the lawsuit states, Rotten was dissatisfied with his hotel room. He "cocked back his fist ... and punched [Davis] in the face", complaining to her that his room didn't share a door with his favourite assistant, who is charmingly named Rambo.

Rambo then joined Rotten to verbally abuse a cowed Roxane Davis. Though the incident did not result in criminal charges, Davis is now pursuing the matter in civil court.

The reformed Sex Pistols, meanwhile, continue to gallivant across the world, possibly to cover legal fees. You can admire Rotten's new teeth and nasty demeanour at the following gigs:
